A Report from the Desk of Professor Hogwin Hogvanhog, Documenting the Historical Event of a New Specie, and the Fun and Games which Followed…

Every dragon is born unique, but the Rolling Champion Dragon managed to surprise everyone. Like all baby dragons, it was a gauche little thing, unable to move properly, often falling without the ability to take off flying. Soon enough, however, it became apparent that there was more at work than your run-of-the-mill clumsiness. The adult dragons around it seemed to understand that while others had hatched without hind legs or wings, they all had the ability to fly, run, or swim somehow. This wasn’t the case for Rolling Champion Dragon - it was the first time in dragon history that such a thing had happened!

For a while, I observed much discussion amongst the oldest of the dragon flock regarding what should be done about the unique hatchling…until they seemed to realize they should involve the Rolling Champion Dragon itself and ask it what it wanted! As soon as they included the young dragon in their deliberations, it was more than happy to share its aspirations with everyone willing to listen. This is, of course, what I have surmised from much grunting, growling, gurgling, and clawed pantomime.

The Rolling Champion Dragon never minded the sky – instead it dreamed of speeding alongside its friends (and it had accrued many) on solid ground. In support of this, the flock came together, deciding that this was a great opportunity for them to challenge each other in a way they’d never experienced before. This was the genesis of a great creation contest - and the reason why many new accessibilities devices were invented in Dragolandia, allowing countless others, both dragon and human, to benefit from improvements to their everyday lives! It was also the point of origin of the theory that suggests that any mobility aid goes faster if flames are painted on the side; a hotly debated topic in dragon culture to this day! 

Each and every one of these inventions was put to the test, until the Rolling Champion Dragon found the one that was perfect for its needs. The device it chose had no flames on the side, and was considerably simple, supporting the lower part of its body and tail. Despite this simplicity, the wheeled wonder worked like a charm, allowing the young dragon to challenge its friends to competition it had been missing out on. It took a while, and some rather daring hijinks, for the Rolling Champion Dragon to perfect its skills at piloting itself in its new device. But soon enough, it had become a regular competitor in draconic races, and a fixture on the podium!

To this day, it loves nothing more than a fair competition where every creature gets to show their skills and shine in their own way. Its best friends are also its biggest rivals, and they’re often seen together coming up with plans to spread the joy of moving and competing together. Thus began a new Dragolympic sport, and a new way for dragons like the Rolling Champion to move about the world!
